Privacy Policy

Muuseumirotid OÜ (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This privacy policy explains what personal data we collect on eestimuuseumid.ee (the “Museumist” brand), why and on what legal basis we process it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. We process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Estonian law.

What data we collect

eestimuuseumid.ee is a travel and museum blog. We do not sell goods online or process payments. We only collect data needed to run the site and communicate with you:

  • When you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address (and first name, if you provide it).
  • Via the contact form or email: the name, email address and message you send us.
  • When you leave a comment: your name, email address and the comment content.
  • Automatically when you visit: technical data such as IP address, browser type, device, pages viewed and time of visit (through server logs and analytics).

Why and on what legal basis we process data

  • To send the newsletter — based on your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email.
  • To respond to your enquiries — based on our legitimate interest in communicating with you.
  • To keep the site secure, functioning and to gather statistics — based on our legitimate interest.
  • To use analytics and marketing cookies — based on your consent (see “Cookies” below).

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. We use:

  • Essential cookies — for basic site function and security (including the Cloudflare content delivery network). These are always active.
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics (GA4) helps us understand anonymously how visitors use the site. We use these only with your consent.
  • Partner/affiliate cookies — some outbound links (see “Affiliate links”) set partner cookies so commission can be attributed correctly.

You can manage cookie preferences in your browser settings and via the consent banner shown on the site. Blocking most cookies does not prevent you from reading the main content.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymous statistics about site usage (for example, which articles are read and which countries visitors come from). This may involve transferring data to Google LLC in the United States. Google processes the data under its own privacy terms.

Newsletter

We use the provider MailerLite to manage our newsletter. When you subscribe, your email address is stored in MailerLite solely to send you the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link at the bottom of every email.

Affiliate links

Some links on the site are affiliate links (for example Travelpayouts, DiscoverCars, Kiwi.com). If you click such a link and make a purchase or booking on the partner’s site, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. These partners may set their own cookies on your device to attribute the transaction. Their data processing is governed by their own privacy policies.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers (processors) who help us run the site:

  • Web hosting — Zone Media OÜ (Zone.ee), where the site is hosted.
  • Content delivery and security — Cloudflare.
  • Analytics — Google (Google Analytics).
  • Newsletter — MailerLite.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union (for example in the US). Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards for the transfer (such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses). We may also disclose data where required by law.

How long we keep data

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose: newsletter data while you remain subscribed; correspondence for a reasonable period after your enquiry is resolved; analytics data according to the tool’s retention settings. After that, data is deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased (“right to be forgotten”);
  • restrict or object to processing;
  • receive your data in a machine-readable format and have it transferred to another provider;
  • withdraw any consent you have given, at any time.

Complaints

If you believe we process your data unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (www.aki.ee/en).

Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page, and the date of the last change is shown at the top.
