Halloween in Tartu 2026: 9 Events, Parties and All Souls

Halloween in Tartu 2026 falls on Saturday 31 October, the last weekend of the Estonian school holiday. Tartu is not Tallinn: there is no big horror park here, and as of late September most museums have not published their programmes. What is confirmed: two parties, a pumpkin day for children, a night tour of a manor park, a horror film at the cinema and a run of All Souls concerts. And one thing few people know: the KGB Cells Museum is free on 31 October. Below is everything that has actually been announced, with dates and prices from the organisers’ own pages.

The Estonian autumn school holiday runs from 26 October to 1 November.

The KGB Cells Museum is free on 31 October

31 October is the birthday of the Tartu City Museum, and on that day admission to its branches is free. One of them is the KGB Cells Museum in the basement of the “grey house” on Riia street, where political prisoners were held in the 1940s and 1950s. The cells, the punishment cell and the interrogation room are real. This is not a Halloween attraction and should not be treated as one, but if you are looking for a place in Tartu that is genuinely unsettling, this is it.

The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday 11:00 to 17:00, and ticket sales end half an hour before closing. On a normal day a ticket costs 9 €, concession 6 €, family 22 €. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so you cannot visit on All Souls’ Day, 2 November. More free days are in my list of free museums in Tartu.

Halloween parties in Tartu

360° Tartu Halloween Rave, Genialistide Klubi

Saturday 31 October, 22:00 to 04:00, Magasini 5. House, rave and techno on two stages; the line-up has not been announced yet. Early tickets 5 €, regular 8 €, 10 € at the door, cloakroom 2 €. Age limit 18+. Tickets are sold through Sviby, details on the Genklubi page.

VJ Kaupo Mitt, Halloween special, Tartu Aleksander

The same night at 22:00, Aleksandri 42. The advance ticket on Fienta is 3 €, the door price 8 €. A ticket does not guarantee a table, and tables are held until 21:30. This is the party for people who want familiar music and a dance floor rather than techno.

With children: pumpkin party and a witch on stage

Pumpkin party at the Talu ja Loomad farm. Saturday 31 October, 11:00 to 17:00, in Kulli village near Elva, about half an hour by car from Tartu. Pumpkin carving, keyring making and farm animals. Tickets 10 € at the gate, under-twos free. The organiser lists Estonian, Finnish and English as languages. A car is the easiest way to get there.

“Kunksmoor ja kapten Trumm” at Vanemuine Sadamateater. Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November at 12:00. It is not a Halloween show, but the main character is a witch and it is suitable from age five. The play is in Estonian. Check the Vanemuine site for ticket prices.

For a rainy holiday day the usual safe choices are there too. AHHAA is open every day; adult ticket 20 €, family 45 €. What to do there and elsewhere is in my complete guide to Tartu museums.

Night tour and horror films

Luke Manor park night tour

Saturday 31 October at Luke Manor in Nõo, about 20 kilometres from Tartu. The tour gathers at 22:00 by the bonfire in front of the steward’s house and lasts an hour and a half. The stories are the darker ones from the manor’s past, told in Estonian. The tour costs 10 €, children up to seven go free. The package with dinner is 34 €; dinner starts at 18:00 and drinks are not included.

Note: event calendars list the time as 18:00 to 22:00. That is the cocktail lounge, not the tour. The tour itself starts at 22:00. Tickets from the Luke Manor site.

“Ginger Snaps” at Elektriteater

Sunday 25 October at 18:00 in the Kiriku hall of Elektriteater, Jakobi 1. A Canadian werewolf film from 2000, in English with Estonian subtitles. Tickets 6–8 €.

Hitchcock’s “The Lodger” with live music

Saturday 24 October at 19:00 at the Tartu Literature House. A silent film inspired by Jack the Ripper, with a live score by Doris Hallmägi and commentary by the writer Indrek Hargla. Tickets 7 €. It is part of the silent film festival “Krimi kinolinal”, 22 to 24 October.

All Souls season in Tartu

In Estonia the end of October and November was the time of souls, hingedeaeg, long before pumpkins reached the shops. All Souls’ Day is 2 November. People light a candle in the window and visit the cemetery. In Tartu that means Raadi cemetery, where Karl Ernst von Baer, Jakob Hurt and Miina Härma are buried. The cemetery is open around the clock and free.

  • Hingemuusika. Elina Nechayeva, Ulla Krigul and the Estonian National Male Choir. Sunday 1 November at 15:00, Vanemuine Concert Hall, one hour without an interval. Tickets 23–31 €.
  • Tõnu Raadik, “Hämarvalguses”. Monday 2 November at 19:00, Karlova Theatre, Tähe 66. Tickets 25 €, concession 20 €.

Estonia’s own costume tradition comes a week later. St Martin’s Day, mardipäev, is 10 November, when children go door to door in disguise. No public event for it has been announced in Tartu so far. In Tallinn the Estonian Open Air Museum holds its mumming day on Sunday 8 November.

Not confirmed yet

These took place last year, but the organisers have published nothing for 2026. Do not plan around them until a date is out.

  • Halloween ice disco at Astri Arena, Lõunakeskus. In 2025 it ran on 31 October in three sessions, 7 € plus skate rental.
  • Shooters Tartu Halloween party. In 2025 on 31 October.
  • AHHAA, the Estonian National Museum and the Tartu Toy Museum. No Halloween or school holiday programme is up yet. The Toy Museum holiday camp on 28 to 30 October is a craft camp, not a Halloween one.
  • Ghost tours on Toome Hill. I could not verify dates for public tours.

Museums and shopping centres usually publish their late October programmes three to four weeks ahead. I will check again in mid-October and update this guide.

Getting to Tartu and where to stay

From Tallinn there is a train and a bus to Tartu, both taking about two to two and a half hours. The city centre is walkable. For Luke Manor and the pumpkin party you need a car or a taxi, and you cannot count on public transport after the night tour. If you are going to a party, stay the night.

If you are in the capital at the same time, the choice there is wider: Halloween in Tallinn 2026. For Monday 2 November, keep in mind that most Tartu museums are closed. What is open is in my list of museums open on Monday.
